Don't Forget Nissan Qashqai Key Fob: 10 Reasons That You No Longer Need It

Reasons Why Your Nissan Qashqai Key Fob Won't Work

The Qashqai has a distinctly SUV feel to it thanks to its bigger dimensions, and the ride on 19-inch wheels in Ti and ST-L models may be firm at times. The front tyres may lose grip on rough surfaces and its CVT can occasionally display wrist-flexing torque steer.

This is generally caused by the battery of a coin that is dead. It can be replaced in just a few minutes. Make sure that the replacement battery has the same voltage, size and specifications.

Water Damage

One of the most frequent reasons why a Nissan key fob might display the "key ID is not correct" message is due to water damage. The key fob has rubber seals that shield the electronic chip inside. However, prolonged  nissan car keys  to moisture can cause it to stop functioning properly. This is typically the situation in the event that you've dropped your key fob in the ocean or a pool pools, but it could be the case if it gets wet from soapy hands or rain.

If your key fob was exposed to water for many years and you're not sure, clean it using isopropyl or electronic cleaner. It may also need to be taken to a specialist to repair or replace it.

If your key fob needs to be replaced, it's an easy process. Make sure you've got the correct multipack (CR2032, 3V). Then, open the front and back cases with a small flathead screwdriver. You'll have to remove the clips that hold the metal together and pull out the battery that was in place, and then replace it with the new one. Reassemble the fob and replace the mechanical key. Verify that it is working correctly. If it isn't, you will need to take it to your local Nissan dealer or an expert auto locksmith to fix the key chip. Fortunately, the chip is not usually damaged by water exposure and therefore this shouldn't be too expensive.

Dead Coin Battery

Another reason that your Nissan Qashqai key fob might not work is because the battery for the coin is dead. These batteries last for three to five years, however they can become faulty over time in the event that the fob has been frequently dropped. You can replace the battery, however, make sure it's the same voltage and same size as the previous. If you are using an alternative battery, it could cause the key to have an invalid key ID which could prevent it from paired with your vehicle.

The best way to change the battery on a Nissan Qashqai Key Fob is to pry it open using an incredibly small screwdriver. Push in the screwdriver in an angled notch on the bottom of the fob and twist it gently to split the two halves of the key fob. Then, remove the old CR2025 button cell battery and insert the new one after confirming its position on the fob.

Before putting the new battery in be sure that there isn't any water damage or dirt on the terminals. If this is the case clean the terminals with small amounts of isopropyl alcohol. Make sure that the pole cables are properly connected. They must be connected to the negative and the positive poles of your battery.

Diagnostics of a fault

If your Nissan Qashqai's key fob doesn't function after exposure to clean tap or rain water it could indicate that there is an issue with the internal chip. The battery replacement won't fix this, and you'll have to purchase the new key fob. If you dropped the key fob on the ground and it stopped working instantly it's likely due to damage to the internal chip. If you clean the chip with isopropyl alcohol and paper towel and then put it back in the key fob, it is possible to generally get it back to working.

A common error that you might see on the dashboard of your vehicle is "Key ID Not Correct." The vehicle is unable to recognize the key fob which is why it won't allow the vehicle to start. This issue can be caused by several ways, such as water damage, problems undetectable in the key fob's circuitry or RFID interference.

The key fob will stop working if the 12 volt batteries are dead or fail to provide enough electric current. This could affect your Nissan Qashqai's remote keyless system central locking, as well as the ability to start the engine with the key fob. If you're unable unlock or lock the door by hand You should examine the batteries inside your key fob to make sure they're in good condition. Try re-inserting the battery to reset the transmitter.

Reprogramming

If the key fob was not submerged in saltwater it should be able to come back to life with a simple rinse of clean water. You can also clean the electronic chip with isopropyl or electronic cleaner. If none of these work, you may need to replace the key fob.

If your Nissan Intelligent Key is still not working, there could be a problem with the connection between it and your car. Start by pressing the ignition key, but without beginning the car. Continue to do this until the hazard light flashes twice. Then, turn off the car and take out the key.

Then, you need to open the fob compartment in your vehicle. It's usually located on a door jamb, or the handle for the driver's door. Find the small "program" button and press it. You will hear a sound once the process is complete.

It's time to put your Intelligent Key to the test. Make sure you press all the buttons on the key while at a distance from the vehicle. If the lights flash, or the horn sounds, then the key is connected to the Nissan. You can also test it close to the Nissan.
